The Archive Cafe
Webflow Design & Development
Harry and George approached us to help them with the brand and webflow website design and creation for their exciting project; The Archive - A Cafe, bike shop and local hub for cycling culture in West Sussex.
Tasked with creating their brand identity and website, the theme was all things retro diners, automotive industrial and Americana culture...
A unique identity with a site to match.
One of the themes in addition to the influences mentioned above was and artist named Wes Lang who created various rough sketches with a particular style. We couldn’t help not provide a full hand sketched option to choose from during the logo design process. After reviewing and refining we had a hand sketched retro American diner style logo to give a face to the name.
The branding was complete which meant we could get started on the design and development of the website. We had brand colours to work with and also some great content supplied by the guys, including old school nostalgic film content which we loved to see.
In addition to the design of the logo, an American desert-like scene was requested to be drawn which would be printed onto the cafe staff members t-shirts and also used on the business cards which we also designed. The scene was a hit, so we knew we had to incorporate it into the site somehow...
The results
With a blank slate we were able to provide The Archive with everything they would need for a initial set up in preparation for the launch of their cafe. They now had a brand identity which they feel represents them well and are proud to show off to future customers and also a custom designed Webflow website which will give customers the necessary information and more when they land on the site.
Being responsible for the brand identity from the beginning enable us to understand what kind of visual theme would be needed for the site along with the content supplied to us beforehand.
It was mentioned that they wanted to see the homepage as a really visual, flowing piece about what/why/where/who etc as part of our website questionnaire before we begin. We spent extra time and effort creating a intro with a range of video and image content to introduce The Archive in style when users land on the site.
A ‘Contact us’ page and also a dedicated Bike Workshop were created to give importance to the services available at the cafe. Users are also able to book a service via a simple booking form which will notify the team at The Archive to contact the customer directly.
